City of Ocean City

  • 2011 Fall Road Improvement Program - Phase 2

    Approximate Construction Cost: $540,000

    Project Description:

    This project consisted of the reconstruction of roads and alleys in the north end of Ocean City. The following roads and alleys were included in the project:

    • ·Plymouth Place - Replaced all damaged and failing concrete, improved drainage, milled existing road surface and repaved.
    • ·5th Street/Brighton Place Alley (Corinthian Avenue to the Boardwalk) - Replaced damaged concrete, milled and repaved sections with fall, reconstructed flat areas using porous pavement.
    • ·4th Street/Park Place Alley (Atlantic Avenue to the Boardwalk) - Milled and repaved sections with fall, reconstructed flat areas using porous pavement.
    • ·St. Charles Place/1st Street Alley (Atlantic Avenue to the Boardwalk) - Milled and repaved sections with fall, reconstructed flat areas using porous pavement.
    • ·Pleasure Avenue/Bay Avenue Alley - Milled and repaved the alley along with the addition of handicap ramps.
    • ·Simpson Avenue (Battersea Avenue to 1st Street) - Improved drainage system, replaced curb and added concrete gutter to facilitate better drainage, and reconstructed the roadway.

    Mott Watkins Associates was responsible construction management of this municipal roadway reconstruction effort.  Responsibilities included daily oversight, measurement of all field quantities, preparation of all change orders and payment estimates, and recommendations for project acceptance.

    The project was awarded to Lewandowski Construction Industries in the amount of $538,585.80.  The project has been completed and is in the final stages of being closed out. The project was completed under budget.

  • 2011 Fall Road Improvement Program - Phase 3

    Approximate Construction Cost: $1.2 Million

    Project Description:

    This project consisted of the design and construction management of the storm water improvements and roadway reconstruction for the following roads:

    • ·Wesley Avenue from 26th Street to 29th Street along with the street ends at 26th through 29th Streets - Installed underground infiltrators to control storm water and eliminate outfalls, installed handicap ramps and concrete gutter, and repaved the roadway.
    • ·Bayland Drive - Removed and replaced failing corrugated steel storm water pipe with 48” HDPE pipe along with improving drainage, installed concrete gutter and repaved roadway.

    Mott Watkins Associates was responsible for the design and construction management of this municipal roadway and storm water reconstruction and improvement effort.  Responsibilities included decisions regarding the storm water and roadway design and preparation of design plans and specifications in accordance with NJDOT and other applicable regulations.  Mott Watkins Associates also provided complete construction management including daily oversight, measurement of all field quantities, preparation of all change orders and payment estimates, and recommendations for project acceptance.

    The project was awarded to Landberg Construction in the amount of $1,257,944.51.  The project has been completed and the contractor is working on final closeout documentation.

  • 2011 Fall Road Improvement Program - Phase 4

    Approximate Construction Cost: $550,000

    Project Description:

    This project consisted of the design and construction management of the storm water improvements and roadway reconstruction for Asbury Avenue from 42nd Street to  45th Street along with 43rd and 44th from Central Avenue to the Bay, 45th Street from Central Avenue to West Avenue, and the Alley between Asbury Avenue and Central Avenue from 46th to 47th.. The storm water system drastically improved along with the concrete and pavement.

    Mott Watkins Associates was responsible for the design and construction management of this municipal roadway and storm water reconstruction effort.  Responsibilities included decisions regarding design of the storm water system and roadways, preparation of design plans and specifications in accordance with NJDOT and other applicable regulations.  Mott Watkins Associates also provided complete construction management including daily oversight, measurement of all field quantities, preparation of all change orders and payment estimates, and recommendations for project acceptance.

    The project was awarded to Lewandowski Construction Industries in the amount of $553,994.70.  The project was completed in June 2011.
